Paul Burslem
Head Coach Paul has been involved in the sport of mountain biking for over 20 years, as a rider, racer, and more recently as a coach. As a parent of 9 active children, he has been involved over the years as coach for many teams (mostly baseball & MTB). He has coached with the Lake Travis MTB team when his older children rode with them and then with Steiner Ranch for the past 3 years. While he and his family are originally from Louisiana, they spent a number of years in the Pacific Northwest before moving to Austin 12 years ago. Paul discovered mountain biking while living in Seattle and found it to be the perfect activity to stay fit, relieve stress, and seek some thrills while enjoying nature. Passing this love of biking on to his family has always been a goal and working with NICA has allowed that goal to expand even further to others and get more kids on bikes. As a computer programmer, Paul compensates for his sedentary day job by taking on many construction and repair tasks that are available around the house and property, including building MTB trails and features in the yard. He enjoys carpentry, welding and electronics projects, especially if there are wheels involved. Erik Enge
Assistant Coach Erik has been an avid mountain biker since he can remember and has ridden on Steiner Ranch trails for the last eight years, usually multiple times a week. A licensed NICA Head Coach and IMBA ICP Level 1 guide. Erik coached with the Hudson Bend/Lake Travis team during the 2015/2016 season and was incredibly impressed with the league and its focus on Inclusivity, Equality, Strong Body, Strong Mind and Strong Character. Erik is Wilderness First Aid, CPR and AED certified. While not busy being the Chief Operating Officer of a software company, or riding his bike, he spends his spare time reading about the finer points of the attack position, cardiovascular endurance and figuring out how to successfully coach student-athletes. Born in Norway and immigrated to the United States in 2002, he has ridden mountain bikes in all conceivable terrains from snowy mountains to dry and flat conditions and considers this lifelong sport a source of both relaxation and rejuvenation. He loves teaching kids an appreciation for the outdoors and helping them set and achieve goals, seeing failure as feedback and ultimately finishing what they started. Mountain biking is the perfect vehicle for teaching these critical life lessons. |

Shaylah Enge
Assistant Coach
Coach Shay has been riding and coaching mountain biking for 5 years now. She grew up being athletic and involved in soccer, dance, cheerleading, Muay Thai, and participating in OCRs (Obstacle Course Races). She believes that physical activity, especially in an outdoor environment, not only contributes to a strong body, but is good for our mental health as well. She also loves encouraging other girls/women in achieving their athletic potential.
She is a Level 3 NICA Coach, a BICP Level 1 Instructor, a Wilderness First Responder and is a registered nurse who has a background in Trauma-Ortho and Emergency Medicine. Because of this background, safety is a priority for her and she is adamant about teaching the skills that will allow riders to minimize their risks.
When she's not riding, she loves to crochet and watch movies. In the summer, she can be found acting as the camp nurse at a nearby summer camp. She also is proud to serve as the Adventure Coordinator for the Texas League and is excited about getting more kids on bikes.

Troy Mutter
Assistant Coach
Troy Mutter has been an avid recreational mountain biker since his college years in the mountains around Blacksburg, Virginia. He recently stumbled into the world of middle and high school mountain bike racing last year when his son, Austin, was nudged by Coach Erik to join the HBLT team and, after experiencing the 2016 season, Troy and family are hooked. They believe that the Texas MTB League and the sport not only builds strength, life skills, and mental toughness in our student athletes but also by the nature of the events and venues brings together families and communities in a way unlike any other youth sport.
Troy is excited to join the SRMTB team as an assistant coach. In preparation for the upcoming season he attended several training sessions over the summer with the LeeLikesBikes team in Boulder Colorado to learn how to better teach mountain biking fundamentals and he is eager to pass along this knowledge to the SRMTB team.
When not mountain biking or working, Troy spends his time as scouting den leader with Cub Scout Pack 203 and assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 441. Through many years of scouting, Troy has enjoyed the opportunity to work with young men to help them build life skills and achieve their goals. He looks forward to helping the SRMTB team athletes achieve whatever they set out to accomplish in the sport of mountain bike racing and hopefully to learn some life lessons along the way!

Piers Hendrie
Assistant Coach
Assistant Coach
Coach Piers has been mountain biking for 20 years, and is excited to be coaching middle and high school students in the sport he loves. He worked with elementary school boys as a den leader and photographer with Pack 2030 for 10 years and did get to take cub scouts caving and mountain biking, and also taking Girl Scouts hiking and rock climbing. Coaching Neighborhood Sports soccer 5 years for girls and a couple of
years with boys was also a fun experience. He also enjoys doing macrophotography of endangered species for the city and county in caves. In past seasons Piers has enjoyed mountaineering, skiing, rock climbing and scuba diving in Lake Travis. Piers has worked as an engineer at TippingPoint since 2005. |

Rob Lowe
Assistant Coach, Team Director
Rob discovered Mountain Biking comparatively recently as both of his boys came to fall in love with the sport after joining the team and he caught the bug with them! While he is newer to the sport he has coached kids in football, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse for over 10 years and loves to help them to develop skills while learning the wonderful life lessons that sports provide. Rob is a longtime Steiner resident of 20 years who loves the area and the amazing community that we have.
Rob is a strong believer in the culture the team has cultivated of #MoreKidsOnBikes (and #MoreParentsOnBikes too!) that provides opportunities for beginners all the way up to highly competitive racers shooting for a spot at the top of the podium. It's truly a lifetime sport for everyone at every level. As an old slow guy himself and a veteran of coaching many other sports such as football, baseball, lacrosse, and soccer he is a strong advocate for teaching safety, fundamentals, discipline, and having a fun time doing it! He also loves to cook BBQ for team dinners at races and other outings!

Chris Trevelise
Assistant Coach
Chris Trevelise (aka Trev) started his athletic career at the ripe old age of 4, where he was a shining star on the soccer field and decided one day to host his own garage sale to raise money for his first real bike. Once he had exactly enough money, he shut the garage door and went to buy a red Raleigh Rampar. The next morning, he woke up before his parents and went out to teach himself how to ride a two-wheeler. From this point forward, little Trev was free. That first weekend he rode 22 miles with his parents. This continued through his high school years where he would commute to and from soccer practices and games by bicycle. Trev joined the high school cross country team (which runs an opposite season) for the sole purpose of keeping his running in tune for soccer. His love for running and cycling really became engrained while living these formative years in Beaumont, Texas. In addition to his foundation of running and cycling, Trev’s swimming started in open water. He found his respect for the ocean and began surfing when he was 8 years old. With every summer spent on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, Trev spent everyday surfing, swimming, rowing, and eventually working as an ocean rescue lifeguard.
While attending the University of Texas – San Antonio, Trev started his formal studies in Exercise Physiology. After a car accident in 1994, which herniated his L4 and L5 lumbar discs, he started swimming and cycling through his recovery. He completed his major and earned and Bachelor of Science in Health and Fitness for Business and Industry. Since his formal collegiate studies, he has earned his coaches license from both USA Triathlon and USA Cycling.
Trev’s resume’ includes the Leadville 100, 24 hours of Moab, Ironman Florida, Escape from Alcatraz, Ironman 70.3, PrairieMan, CapTexTri, X-Terra, Cyclocross Nationals, and a number of other races throughout North America. Internationally, Trev earned a spot on Team USA and has represented the United States in multiple World Championships for Off-Road Triathlon.
Now, as a Coach and Race Director for the SRMTB, Trev continues to help develop cycling and multisport athletes from first encounter on. When not coaching or competing, Trev loves to ride and surf with his wife and kids.

Tiffany Stubbings
Assistant Coach
Coach Tiffany grew up riding her Huffy 10-speed around the flat roads around Lake Weatherford in North Texas. After moving to the beautiful hill country, her husband, Coach Jason, convinced her to buy her first mountain bike and hit the trails. She's been hooked ever since! After visiting Steiner Ranch, she knew this is where she needed to live, so she could have amazing trails on her doorstep.
She has been involved in various sports her whole life, from track to cheerleading to (her "joint" favorite) softball. These activities helped her remain focused, grounded, and build confidence. She was so excited when her son joined the SRMTB and knew she wanted to coach, so she can help the next generation learn these important qualities. It's been an amazing couple of years, getting to see new riders make a hill they've never made before or learn a new skill on the bike. She can't wait for the start of each new season!
When Coach Tiffany isn't busy with team practice, she loves scuba diving in the Caribbean, snow skiing in Steamboat, and traveling with her family. Her favorite place to visit is England and has had the opportunity to mountain bike the beautiful (and very different) trails there. She is also a Black Belt in Taekwondo and loves training for competitions. She's only competed in one mountain bike race but is hoping to challenge herself to do more in the future.

Jason Stubbings
Assistant Coach Coach Jason began his mountain biking career many years ago and knew this was his cup of tea. It's not hard to see why as the trails he was so lucky to encounter were the beautiful, winding single tracks around England, Scotland and Wales. He and his friends would set out on a cold, rainy day with their bikes and camping gear to hit the trails for the weekend. Needless to say, moving to Austin (which he thought was full of cowboys, horses and cactus) was quite the shock with the rocky trails and [over] 100-degree temps! However, his love for the sport kept him going and now he's one of the pros around Steiner. He really enjoys taking the team on some of the more challenging trails around Steiner. He pushes the kids to their limits then watches the benefits of heightened endurance and increased technical skills during races. His goal is to expand the team's technical abilities and increase confidence on harder terrain. One of his favorite race day activities is taking the kids on their warm up loops, getting them energized for the race! When he's not on his bike, washing bikes or repairing bikes, he's in his office playing videos games or messing around with video editing software. He really enjoys creating the team video which is shown during the end-of-year party; be sure to take lots of videos and pictures throughout the season! |

Eric Morton
Assistant Coach
Eric was a late bloomer to mountain biking. He has been an avid downhill skier for many years and started mountain biking only after moving to Austin. Now if he isn't on the slopes of some mountain in Vermont (he has adopted a "home" mountain of Smugglers Notch), Colorado, Utah, BC, or wherever else he decides to go for is love of powder, he is probably riding his minty green bike on the trails around here.
Eric is very active in the Steiner Ranch Trail Committee, managing their social network faces and public communication. His love for the trails led him to know many of the mountain bikers and Eric joined the team as a coach in 2018. While he doesn't have any kids on his team - all his kids are now in college - he was always active as a coach for various teams while his kids were young and now brings his love for mountain biking and enjoying the beautiful trails of Steiner to this team. Eric also has a passion for photography and loves to take pictures at the races.
